Message from the Dean
Here we go! It’s that time again. Our 2018 cohort arrived today and we’re launching a new academic year. Our new students are becoming part of a school that is moving forward, building a new model for public policy graduate education.
Pardee RAND continues to add new courses (Modeling Complex Problems, Deep Engagement with Communities, Cyber Policy Through Hacking, Defense Against the Dark Art of Mass Manipulation Using New Media) and teach in new ways (our second year of policy design studios) — preparing our students to lead in the rapidly changing, often uncertain, “white water” world we live in.
Central to preparing for the future is recognizing the interconnected nature of the problems we are tackling, with states, communities, organizations, and people connecting with each other and around the globe. Fred Pardee is once again making it possible for the graduate school to integrate this global perspective into our courses, student and RAND faculty research, and our new Tech and Narrative Lab. Read more about his generous $3 million gift and Professor Krishna Kumar’s leadership of this global initiative below.
And, finally, join us in welcoming the 2018 cohort!
