Alumni Share Career Connections

By popular request, Career Services is continuing its series of live webinars featuring Pardee RAND alumni. Ying Liu (cohort '04) and Feng Zeng ('98) will share their work experiences and insights working in health research within the pharmaceutical industry.

Liu is the head of U.S. Value and Access, Dermatology & Respiratory, at Sanofi Genzyme in Cambridge, Mass. In this role, she leads a team responsible for developing and executing market access strategy to optimize patient access to innovative specialty pharmaceutical products in partnership with payers and other stakeholders (including pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, health insurance companies, and government payers). Before the role, she held similar roles and conducted health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) with increasing responsibilities for global (largely non-U.S.) markets with Sanofi Genzyme, Biogen, and Allergan (now part of AbbVie). Liu graduated from Pardee RAND in 2009 and worked at the CDC and academia briefly before joining the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.

Zeng is the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Franchise Lead, Health Outcomes Research, at Biogen. In his role, he is responsible for evidence-generation planning and execution for Biogen's MS portfolio, including Tecfidera, Vumerity, Tysabri, Plegridy, and Avonex. Before Biogen, he was with a variety of companies including EMD Serono, La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company, and MedImpact. Zeng has been working in health economics and outcomes research for more than 15 years since graduating from Pardee RAND.

Future Career Connections

Career Services director Sandy Buchan and the students on the Career Services Advisory Committee are always eager to recruit alumni and industry leaders to talk with students.

Buchan shared that Yilmaz Argüden (cohort '80) will be speaking on Governance for Quality of Life on May 10. Argüden is a leading strategist, advisor, and board member of several major public and private institutions and NGOs. He is the Founder and Chairman of ARGE Consulting, a globally recognized management consulting firm based in Istanbul. ARGE Consulting has served as the B20 Knowledge Partner (Governance & Sustainability), as EFQM Certified Advisory Organization, and Value Reporting Foundation’s Licensed Integrated Reporting Training Partner. As the first Turkish signatory of the UN Global Compact, ARGE Consulting has been recognized at the European Parliament as one of the best three companies “Shaping the Future” with its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
