Dear Pardee RAND Community,
Our June Commencement provided a wonderful conclusion to the academic year! We celebrated the achievements of 37 Ph.D. and 54 M.Phil. graduates. Our keynote speaker and honorary degree recipient, Soledad O'Brien, shared her wit and wisdom, adding to the memorable occasion.
In her graduate address, Gaby Alvarado shared feedback from her fellow graduates and noted two main themes:
- Making a difference: “We came here because we want to make a difference in the world—we really care about certain issues and wanted the tools to ‘be the answer.’”
- Building relationships: “The people and the relationships we have built over the years are what have made the Pardee RAND experience different from anything else we’ve experienced in our lives.”
I wholeheartedly agree! Our students and alumni inspire me not only because they care about the world around us, but also because they care about each other.
I invite you to revisit the day by watching this photo montage from the ceremony, as well as Gaby's and Soledad's speeches. Please join me in congratulating our Pardee RAND graduates!
With warmth and excitement,
Nancy Staudt
