Modeling Socio-Economic Complex Adaptive Systems

Professor: Vardavas
Units: 0.5
Elective Course
Concentration: Quantitative Methods

This course will explore current approaches of the application of Evolutionary Game Theory and Complex Adaptive Systems to Policy Analysis. Students will become familiar with policy problems that can be analyzed using these methods. At the same time, students will discuss background material needed for understanding the rigorous application of these methods to policy research. Student preparation: Before each session students will be expected to read the background materials to enrich the presentation of the materials at the lecture. In addition, students will be asked to reproduce some results of the papers to be discussed throughout the curse (or other papers that the student finds more interesting) and extend the research in different directions.
