A CONVERSATION WITH TAVIS SMILEY
Thursday, July 25, 2013
4:15 p.m. Reception • 5:00 p.m. Program
RAND Corporation, 1776 Main Street, Santa Monica, CA
Today there is a growing demand for faculty and students with a diverse range of voices, perspectives and experiences who understand and can teach and use policy research and analysis. Convinced of the urgent need to reach more broadly to recruit and train a representative group of potential public policy leaders from the next generation, the Pardee RAND Graduate School is launching a pilot program for faculty from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions. The inaugural PRGS Summer Faculty Workshop in Research and Analysis will take place at RAND's Santa Monica headquarters next week.
As part of the program, we are hosting a talk with Tavis Smiley on Thursday, July 25. Given your interest in education, public policy, and the development of future leaders who reflect the diversity of our communities, we hope you will join us for this special conversation with Tavis Smiley.
Throughout his life and work, Tavis Smiley has provided leadership and focused attention on the disparities in opportunities and outcomes for African Americans and other minorities in the United States across a range of policy issue areas and we are pleased and honored that he will be sharing his expertise and insight with us.
Please let us know if you can join us for this special gathering.
