in conjunction with the graduate school's inaugural
Summer Faculty Workshop in Policy Research and Analysis,
invites you to join us for
A CONVERSATION WITH TAVIS SMILEY
Thursday, July 25, 2013
4:15 p.m. Reception • 5:00 p.m. Program
RAND Corporation, 1776 Main Street, Santa Monica, CA
Lindsey Kozberg thought you would be interested in attending this special, intimate event with Tavis Smiley (Host, TAVIS SMILEY on PBS and THE TAVIS SMILEY SHOW from PRI) in the library at the RAND headquarters campus.
This event will be a highlight of our inaugural Summer Faculty Workshop in Policy Research and Analysis—part of our Next Generation Initiative to bring a more diverse range of perspectives to the highest levels of public policymaking in the United States. As part of this workshop, twelve guest faculty members from an array of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions will spend a week at RAND learning the tools of policy analysis from Pardee RAND faculty and building ties with RAND researchers. Our goal is to inspire them so that they can inspire their best students to consider the field of public policy as a career.
Throughout his life and work, Tavis Smiley has provided leadership and focused attention on the disparities in opportunities and outcomes for African Americans and other minorities in the United States across a range of policy issue areas and we are pleased and honored that he will be sharing his expertise and insight with us.
We hope that you can join us!
