Program
In his talk, Aaron James will argue for the philosophical and policy importance of public banking. He will offer some actual arguments but will also tell stories about how he came to discover public banking’s importance—including tales of his charity misadventures in Sumatra over the past decade and his co-authoring of a book (Money from Nothing: Why We Should Learn to Stop Worrying About Debt and Love the Federal Reserve) with finance ace Robert Hockett, who in 2019 applied their cogitations while drafting AOC’s Green New Deal, whereupon their policy dreams (very roughly) came true.
