Four distinguished visiting professors will be in residence at Pardee RAND during Winter Quarter 2017.
Martin Feldstein, the George F. Baker Professor of Economics at Harvard University and president emeritus of the National Bureau of Economic Research, will be on campus beginning in January and continuing through February. He is known significantly for his work on the economics of national security.
New York University political scientist Paul Light, known for his study of government organizations and public service, will be in Santa Monica January 16–27. A frequent visitor to RAND and Pardee RAND, Light is the Paulette Goddard Professor of Public Service at NYU's Robert Wagner School of Public Service.
Stanford economist Alain Enthoven—a former RANDite, leader in establishing systems analysis in the DoD, and noted healthcare economist—will be on campus March 6–10. Enthoven is the Marriner S. Eccles Professor of Public and Private Management, emeritus, Stanford University and Senior Fellow Emeritus (by courtesy), at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, also at Stanford.
Finally, Ann Pendleton-Jullian, an architect who recently finished the manuscript Design Unbound with co-author John Seely Brown, will be co-teaching two new "Design Studio" courses this Winter and Spring. Her recent publication presents a new tool set for designing within complex systems and on complex problems endemic to the 21st century. During her residency she will also continue to work on the redesign of Pardee RAND. Pendleton-Jullian, who was a tenured professor in architecture at MIT before moving to her current position at Ohio State, will be at Pardee RAND from January through June.
These distinguished thinkers and scholars will be in residence to provide students and faculty the opportunity to meet with them and attend talks and courses they will be offering.
