Announcing the Next Dean of Pardee RAND

Six months ago I shared the news that I will be leaving Pardee RAND at the end of the summer. That time is fast approaching—I will be stepping down on September 4—so I am pleased to let you know that the search committee has selected my successor.

Nancy Staudt, currently the dean of the School of Law at the Washington University in St. Louis, will be joining Pardee RAND as the fifth dean (and second Frank and Marcia Carlucci Dean) on October 11. She will also serve, as I have, as RAND’s vice president of Innovation. You can read more about her here.

This has been an emotionally interesting time for me, negotiating my own conflicting feelings of sadness at leaving this wonderful institution, even as I anticipate my next adventure in the D.C. area and as the incoming Charles and Marie Robertson Visiting Professor at my alma mater, Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs. But the fact is that I am truly excited for this appointment and the opportunities for the next era for Pardee RAND. The next dean and the school’s exceptional leadership team will do all good things. I am grateful for the work of the search committee, led by alum Jeffrey Wasserman, and appreciative of the time and care Michael Rich has taken in the search process.
