Space Policy
This dynamic and engaging course provides a high-level overview of the current landscape and future directions of space policy, primarily in the United States. Over ten sessions, students will explore the intricacies of national and international space law, the unexpected role of commercial enterprises, and the growing importance of space in national security. While we will invoke history as needed, this is not a class on the history of space policy but space policy today and of the future, emphasizing the importance of analysis and skepticism in a sector with diverse perspectives and parochial interests.
With a blend of guest speakers, interactive simulations, and rigorous debates, this course equips students with the skills to critically evaluate the sector, and learn enough of the fundamentals of space policy to begin to shape the development and implementation of effective space policy and practice.
